Very Wet & Windy Month

December had been a very wet and windy month, we had trees uprooted and our Wendy house roof ripped off. Thanks to the Newcastle community coming to our rescue we are able to walk outside without getting stuck in the mud.

Being Connected out on a Farm

Being connected out on a farm can sometimes be difficult given that cables get stolen and Telkom can only provide dial up. Thanks to Maxwell satellite technologies we have an un interrupted internet service without the hassle of thefts and cable problems.

Occupancy on the Plot

On the 1st of September the Pienaar family took occupancy on the plot, this will enable them to manage the Childrens home on site.

Work Paint Party

Hope in Christ had a wonderful work paint party and we were truly blessed with great fun and lots to eat thanks to the Bridge church ladies & Ruth for the food and beverages. A huge percentage of our volunteers were youth from Ferrum High school and St Dominic’s, what a privilege it is to see our youth getting involved in the things of God.

Projects Overlapping to get the Building Ready

We have had a busy July month with projects overlapping to get the building ready. House 1 : Electrical plugs & switches installed, floors were screed, all our ceramics & plumbing installed. Dining hall: halve the floors screed, main electrical supply installed, all our ceramics & plumbing installed. Main sewer line and water line completed.

Dining Hall Roof Area Completed

The final block work by the roof area of the dining hall was completed and the dining hall was bag washed ready for painting.

Windowsills for House 1 Completed

This month we completed the windowsills for house 1 & installed all the glass in the windows. The roof sheeting for the dining hall was also completed.

Dining Hall Clearing

Our electrician has installed the plug for the electric fence and we are live. I can foresee many campfire stories compliments of the electric fence. This month we concentrated on the dining hall clearing the boundary, and erecting the trusses for the roof. HIC also had a display table at this year’s Newcastle Winterfest, giving the public awareness of our mission. We were so blessed with volunteers taking shifts at our stall. Thank you to everyone that volunteered, donated money, bought a raffle & took the time to visit our stall. Our raffle of a R5000.00 Pick n pay voucher was won by Amie Buitendach.

Electrical Supply was installed

Our main electrical supply was installed this month, this main supply will later feed power to all the houses. The electric fence bobbins, wiring and gates have been installed. All that’s needed is for the power to be connected.
